Modifiers
Modifiers are add-ons or changes that customers can make to products.
What Are Modifiers?
Modifiers let customers customize their orders:
- Extra cheese on a pizza
- No onions on a burger
- Add whipped cream to a drink
- Spicy level (mild, medium, hot)
How Modifiers Work
Like products, modifiers have recipes. This means when a customer adds "Extra Cheese," Butter knows:
- How much cheese to deduct from inventory
- What the customer should be charged (if applicable)

Products vs. Modifiers
| Products | Modifiers |
|---|---|
| Can be ordered directly | Can only be added to a product |
| Main menu items | Customizations and add-ons |
| Example: "Cheese Pizza" | Example: "Extra Cheese" |
Example
A customer orders:
- Cheese Pizza (product)
- with Extra Cheese (modifier)
Butter will deduct:
- Ingredients for the Cheese Pizza (from the pizza recipe)
- Ingredients for Extra Cheese (from the modifier recipe)
Modifier setup is typically done with your Butter administrator. This section will be expanded with more details.
