Products & Recipes
Products are the items you sell to customers. Recipes tell Butter which inventory items are used to make each product.
Understanding Products
Products are your finished items:
- Pepperoni Pizza
- Box of 2 Cinnamon Rolls
- Crunchy Chicken Taco
- Large Coffee
Each product has:
- A name and description
- A price
- A recipe (what goes into it)

Understanding Recipes
A recipe lists the ingredients and quantities needed to make a product.
Example: Cheese Pizza Recipe
| Ingredient | Quantity |
|---|---|
| Pizza doughball | 1 piece |
| Tomato sauce | 100g |
| Mozzarella cheese | 150g |
When a customer orders a Cheese Pizza, Butter automatically deducts these amounts from your inventory.

Why Recipes Matter
Without accurate recipes:
- ❌ Inventory won't be tracked correctly
- ❌ Stock levels will be wrong
- ❌ You won't know what to order
With accurate recipes:
- ✅ Automatic inventory deduction
- ✅ Accurate stock levels
- ✅ Better forecasting and ordering
Recipe Concepts
Sub-Recipes
Some recipes include other recipes. For example:
- "Pizza Base" might be a sub-recipe used in all pizza products
- This keeps things organized and consistent
Produced Item Recipes
Items you make at your outlet (like doughballs) also have recipes. When you log production, Butter knows what raw materials were used.
Recipe setup is typically done with your Butter administrator. This section will be expanded with more details on managing recipes.
